While we bid goodbye to 2008, let's wish Heng Wei a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! You're finally 20, buddy! While ananab and I would be 21 soon.. T-T
I was trying out this custom bokeh on Christmas lightings! You could make heart-shape, bear-shaped outta the traditional circular bokeh.. Though the results didn't turn out as expected (coz I did not have the luxury of a stationary object), the bokeh was "shaped" instead of the normal ones..
Be prepared for some blurred pictures.. >-<
This is actually the Christmas tree shape! And I think you should be able to make out the words..

This is what it is supposed to be.. A subject in the foreground and custom-bokeh in the background.
Can you see that the light sphere is actually sharp while there is heart shaped bokeh at the back?!
This could have been my best picture! But my hand shook and the exposure timing was too long!!!! Looks like my f4 is not enough.. haiz~
For those who are interested in how this is done, I read about the tutorial from this link dar dar gave me.. It's pretty cheap and simple actually..

I'm so broke! I watched 2 movies during my chalet- the long-awaited Twilight and Ip Man.. (both at $6 each!)
TWILIGHT

It wasn't as bad as Fann made it seem. It was rather accurate but as Fann said the effects weren't that awesome as readers and fans have imagined. And THE MEADOW THE MEADOW!!! Argh! The meadow was such a disappointment! In the book, it was described as a beautiful place with a small lake and grass. But it was just a break in the canopy where the a shaft sunlight shone in in the movie. It's ok they did not include the detailed conversations between Edward and Bella but I was hoping for more details when Bella visited the Cullens. Like the cross in their house, Carlisle's history and Edward's... The history of how the Cullens became vampires is the highlight of the books (besides Edward's and Bella's relationship)!
Shouldn't Alice be a more petite and smaller girl too? But Jasper was correctly portrayed and funny! But wasn't the piano supposed to be in a more beautiful place?! The actress for Rosalie was good, showing the irritation and frustration she had for Bella.
The significance of the title was also not emphasize in the movie. But I'm am glad that they include my favourite phrase from the book:"And so the lion falls for the lamb."
Other than that, the movie's fine.. If you're a non-reader/fan, I suggest that you watch the movie first. And I cannot believe that dar actually got the whole series and finished the first book in less than 5 hours! O.O! I just cannot believe he went to read it despite his critics that he does not know "why girls go ga-ga over it." Even after reading, he still does not understand why we do...
IP MAN
For those who cannot read traditional Chinese, it translates into 叶问. I'm glad they used the Traditional Chinese characters even in promotional posters in Singapore. The thing about these characters is that it gives a certain beauty to the Chinese calligraphy unlike the simplified form.

Dar hoped that it could be in Cantonese so that it's more authentic and better but the Mandarin dub is fine with me. I had half expected it to be like 霍元甲 but the ku-fung he used, 永春, is much more gentler. However, it is almost the same plot as 霍元甲. Japanese occupation, fighting off the Japanese with Chinese kung-fu, the sufferings of the Chinese during their rule, Chinese triumphing over the Japanese..... But the difference is that he didn't die but went on to Hong Kong to teach disciples, including Bruce Lee.
The moral of the story was of course hard work and determination. Ip Man was actually from a well-to-do family. So he need not work but stayed at home to practice and fight challengers, thereby getting his wife annoyed by breaking the furniture and not spending enough time with his family. But the Japs came and took their land and blah blah blah.. Find out for yourself! haha.. It's quite a good film.. Ku-fung buffs would like it! Watch it!

How come when I applied for subject exemption almost 2 years ago CSAS 1,2,3 were not included in the list?!?! Now, it's included in the list for the 2008 batch of VeT includes CSAS 1,2,3, together with HAP and PIPC1(both of which I was exempted in Year 1)!!! Arghhh! And the minimum requirement to be expempted is C6 in GP!!! I've a B3...

ROARS! I'm bored in cc and is lazy to study for Clinical Diagnostic 2.. Term test is next week and I shouldn't be nau-ing around.. ARGH! I'm having term tests next week while zx and yu ning are already on holiday!!!!!! I don't care! Kbox when we are all free.. (aka after my term test)
Anyway for those who have not watched City of Ember, watch it! It's the best movie I've watched in a long while..
Don't you think the logo of the City looks like that of Internet Explorer's.. lol..Basically, it's about humans living in an underground city, ignorant and satisfied with what they had and not seeking more. The Builders made sure of everything but they did not consider about the evils of human nature- tyranny, betrayal and greed, which surfaced as the City crumbles. The Builders predicted that the City could only last 200 years on the hyrdoelectrical power supply and had thought of an escape plan. But due to the incapability of the Mayor, the route was lost. However, two kids believed that there was still hope and sought a way out themselves. From the producers of "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", it's a thrilling ride to the surface!
ROARS!!!! I wanna watch Bolt too! But dar's free complimentary GV tickets still cannot be used coz Bolt is still a relatively new movie.. haiz~
Oh, bet you didn't know that Bolt is a white German Shepherd (GSD) puppy! White-coated GSDs are very rare.. Some kennel clubs regard it as a disqualifying fault, and hence is disqualified from conformation rings..
