Action Sampler!

Tuesday, 28th Oct 2008

This might be my last roll coz I'm considering selling the Action Sampler away.. Anyway, this roll of film was given to me by dar dar on our very very very first date.. So this film has technically been with me for 6 months and has documented this time nicely.. And it's no surprise what most of the frames turned out to be- Images of my dearest dar dar and our 6 months together!

Pre-u sem (NTU), where he had relatively shorter hair.. And I look FAT!

  During the Vivo Cosplay matsuri..

  On the MRT..

I dunno when was this but ahbu can hardly see ahbu in this pic..

His expression is uber cute in this one..

No idea when we took this.. I wasn't even looking at the camera..

At JE Sports Complex

The more recent Kusu Island trip..

And dar just bought me a Twilight movie poster! Despite how skeptical he might be against the series.. haha! <3

Oh additional pic..

  Zha bor ahzu!

Happy Birthday dar dar!

Sunday, 26th October 2008

Let me formally introduce to you my boyfriend, Alfred Lau Kai Rong..

Happy Birthday, dar dar and Happy 6th Month!!!!

We actually celebrated his birthday at the Night Safari's Halloween special last Friday.. I arrived at Night Safari first, lighting the cake and surprising him when he alighted from the bus..

PHOTO CREDITS GO TO MARIAN! (well most of the photos here are taken by her while others are by me)

SURPRISE!

Alfred and his cake

For those who missed it, here's the video of him unwrapping the layers of newspapers and masking tape to find his present!

Alfred and his present..

The odd duo who were laughing the whole night long for god knows what reason.. -.-"

He was rather surprised that I "conspired" with Fann and Aaron against him when he found their signature in his "KICK ME" Chihuahua birthday card.. haha!

Next, was a night of terror at the Night Safari! Well, not really.. Since without the tram ride, only the Forest Giants Trail was decorated with "scary things", while the rest of the Safari is as normal..

Entrance to the Safari

Bridge of Hell at the Forest Giants Trail

Suan with a Jiang Shi!

JIANG SHI!!!!

I think we entertianed the poor "ghosts" more than them scaring us.. We were like laughing and joking around and asking for photos.. -.-"

Dar at the exit..

On the way out, there's this like photo booth with a "vampire" who looked like he was very tired with posing with people all night.. And I think we provided him some entertainment with suan and Dickson striking the signature "China Pose".. -.-"

"Vampire" decided to join in too!

Group photo!

go nippon matsuri @ Central

Wednesday, 15th October 2008

Sorry for pangseh-ing VC peeps and my dear Alfred for Back-to-Basics.. I chose to go for this Cosplay event @ Central..

It has been long since I shot ahzu in a Cosplay costume.. This time she was cosplaying as Hibari from KHR..

This is her classic "Saving Aoi" pose but modified.. Of coz, this is her favourite pic.. lol

Ahzu and her squinting small eyes as Hibari.. And her self-made PVC "tong-kat"!

The cute ahbu on her shoulders belong to Seijiro-..

I would say ahzu did her character portrayal well (from my knowledge from reference pics) as compared to other Hibaris at the matsuri..

Btw, this is the new bishie I'm high about..!

Don't you think our Miki looks like Syaoran even as Suzaku from Code Geass.. (Suzaka actually looks like Syaoran anyway..) AAAHHHHH!!!! I FOUND MY SYAORAN!!!!! I never thought any cosplayer would be good cosplaying him till I saw MIKI in this outfit with that Syaoran-ish brown hair!!!! Syaoran is my favourite character of all time! If I think you fit the bill, you must have looked so much like him! PLEASE COSPLAY SYAORAN!!! I will help you psycho a Sakura!!! <333

SSYYYAAOOORRRAAANNN Opps sorry.. It's Sazaku and Euphemia rabu-rabu couple!

O-hime-sama

She said "Hi!" to me but I was like "Do I know you?".. haha.. Cosplayers always appear in different hairstyle and colours that it's hard to recognise them beneath their costumes..

And yuppx! That's all! Can't wait for the next cosplay photoshoot! <3

house bunny

Saturday, 11th October 2008

Well, it wasn't as bimbotic as it seems.. It's actually quite a cliche story about societal acceptance and self-discovery interjected with much humour.. zx laughed so loud that you might think she wanted the whole cinema to hear her.. -.-"

It's about being popular with retaining a part of yourself.. You probably wouldn't get much of the humour unless you are past being a kid.. Would you understand something like guys buying 2 calendars filled with girls in sexy poses in case one gets dirty before you are 15?

Anna Faris sure makes a good Paris Hilton.. It was like a frog's outta the well when she first came outta the Playboy Mansion.. And she certainly met with lots of funny things with her ignorance of plain everyday life..

And I can't believe that something like the Playboy Mansion really exists! It's like a high-class brothel! Hugh Hefner must be the luckiest old man in the world.. lol!

guardian angel

Thursday, 9th October 2008

Reading old letters on a lonely and moody night sure brings great memories.. Every time I read his letters I'm reminded of this song..

洪俊扬 - Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel 降临
那是我的心一直在守护着你
爱是我们唯一的约定

When I was in the first 3 months of JC, our class played an angel-and-mortal game with our senior class. Coincidentally, I picked his name and he picked mine. So we are each other's angel-cum-mortal. As the game goes, we are supposed to exchange letters, sharing information and thoughts without revealing our identities. He already knew mine from the start coz I didn't bother to use different handwritings while he, on the other hand, could write with both hands. So the handwriting from my "angel" and "mortal" are apparently different..

Reading through those yellowed foolscap paper sealed in black envelopes, his words of philosophy and advice sure stuck a chord now. After receiving disappointing O level results and a change of school after that, I had lost contact with him. The last time I saw him was during the school's concert where he played our favourite piece from "Spirited Away".

If Tan Boon Xin aka Mollie is reading this blog now (or anyone who knows him), please leave a tag so I can contact you. Thank you!

kusu island

Monday, 6th October 2008

Janis, Alfred and I visited Kusu Island last weekend. It was the pilgrimage season so we joined the hordes of uncle and aunties, ah pehs and ah ma, at the island.

I used to visit the island every year when I was young. When the adults went to pray, we went to play. But Kusu wasn't as crowded as I remembered it would be at this period. Probably because people nowadays are less superstitious and also because the move of service ferries from the now defunct Clifford Pier to a more ulu Marina South Pier made the island less accessible.

IMG_6479 Welcome to Kusu Island.. (actually this was taken on the deck of the return ferry! haha!) Alfred actually has a picture of the 3 of us at the "Welcome to Kusu" signboard..

I had also wanted to see the interesting mix of religions at the Kusu keramats (where you get your yellow strings for those who are familiar), which are neither Islamic nor Taoist, but have elements of both. There were joss sticks and paper in this seemingly Muslim place. There was this Malay priest with songkot and he chanted prayers in a mixture of both Malay and Hokkien.

IMG_1681 We climbed 152 stairs to the top. With all my camera equipment and my lack of exercise, it's no surprise that even an ah ma climbed faster than me.. -.-"

IMG_1684 Yellow strings like this were given as a blessing and tied around our wrists. Some people prefer to tie it on trees for reason I know not.

IMG_1673 While others tied joss paper on "wishing trees".

We all brought our cameras, intending to capture the sights of this interesting ritual but little that I expect that photography is not allowed in the temples, even in tourist places like this. Luckily, I told Alfred to bring his IR filter and tripod, which quipped my interest.

A normal picture will look like this..

But combined with an IR filter and some post-processing, the greens will turn white and it will look like this!

Sadly, my Canon 40D does not support IR filters so I had to use Alfred's D70s to take these pictures. Thanks dar dar for lending me your camera and filter!

And what's a trip to Kusu without seeing tortoises!

IMG_1679 Here's one big one! lol!

When we were leaving, we saw a giant hawk close to the ground, circling above us. So I quickly whipped out my 70-200mm and shot this.

IMG_6494 But nevertheless, it's still blur..

On the ferry back, I also took some shots of the Singapore cityscape.

Well, that concludes our trip but not my adventure with IR! I'm getting addicted on IR and thanks to Alfred, I have no need to spend extra bucks on the filter! heh heh heh! I love the green-turn-white effect on trees and the clouds!!!

Dar, bring me to Punggol next..
