special a

Tuesday, 30th September 2008

At first, I thought this anime is about promoting elitism.. By having a special class consisting of the top 7 in school, with a different campus, uniforms and teaching system than the rest of the school. But gradually, I realised that this system is essential for the elites. Having rich and famous parents aren't easy as they get backstabbed, teased and bullied in school. Some others get close to them to reap benefits. Only when they are around their own kind that they are able to breathe easily. Birds of the same feathers flock together, eh?

Well, the only exception is Hikari. She's ranked 2nd in school and is a daughter of a carpenter.

As this is a school-theme anime, you would expect some similarities to Ouran. Well, Hikari is a Haruhi-kinda character.. A thorn among the roses.. But she managed to fit in with her own capabilities, warmth, honesty and kindness. She is romantically-linked with Takashima.

Though it is god-damn obvious that Takashima likes her, Hikari is so slow to realise. She only treats him as a eternal rival as he is the first in school and in practically everything. A talented young man, he is the director of a huge group of companies at the tender age of 16. He's a Tamaki-kinda character though not as eccentric. Haha.. He has a cold exterior due to lack of love as his parents are always busy with work. Hakari and the rest of the SA brightens his life and behind his cold exterior, there's a warm and charming personality. Quite attractive but I still prefer Tadashi!

Tadashi has to be my favourite character in the anime! He's the least odd among the oddball elites. He just tend to wander to weird places and has a huge appetite. He has an OTANI SMILE!!!!! hahahaha! Probably that's why I love him. He has a bubbly, everything-well-be-alright character.. And his smile is ever so warm! <3333 He's romantically linked to Akira. A well-matched pair I would say! He loves to eat; she loves to bake. She loves to beat him; he loves to get beaten! (abusive gf! My god!) Tadashi is another blur pig. He didn't realise that Akira loves him too and only realised it when he accidentally overheard her confessions at a vending machine.. And all that he said was "Stay with me.." Awww...

Another male character I like is Ryuu! He's always seen without his tie and always with Megumi and Jun. They treat him like a big brother as their parents are always not around. I thought Megumi would end up with Ryuu but it seems like he's only like her big brother. Ryuu is also an avid animal-lover. Animals tend to be attracted to him! When asked what kinda girls he preferred, he replied, "I love all mammals!" lololol!

Ok that's all I would say! Watch the anime to find out more about the other members of SA! It's damn cute and funny! There's a comical element to it-much like Ouran! And now, I shall go read the manga! myahahhaa!

狐妖食人心

式解人间情爱。

却得不到,

爱不到。。。

狐妖

她憧憬着浪漫的爱情,只是心机太重。Probably like someone would say, getting a married/attached man gives better satisfaction....

她..认为爱就是占有。

妻子

她拼命守着丈夫。女人的知觉总是对的。

她..认为爱就是牺牲。

丈夫

I was pretty impressed by his unwavering loyalty to his wife. Especially when the vixen asked to be his concubine, I thought, "This must be it.." But till the end, he stood fiercely by his wife, never falling to temptation. Even though he loved her, but his wife already occupied the place in his heart. It is evident though that he has much pride.. "是你不相信我做的到." Men and their ego.. LOL..

Qi Yu Wu acted rather well along with his more experienced counterparts. I like his character design though.. =)

But unlike most 《聊斋》 stories, this one actually has a pretty happy ending.. I have always like 《聊斋》 for  its supernatural tales involving the complexities of love between the different realms, but most of them has sad endings I love this one story called 《小谢与秋容》 becoz of its sweet and happy ending.. Maybe some of you might have caught it on Channel U some time ago..

《聊斋》总笑看世间万物对爱的执著与愚蠢...

蠢?哈,可笑!

roars!

Thursday 18th September 2008

Just a little update..

Monday and Wednesday have been busy with PDP in school. 6 hours in school teaching film and paper developing is so tiring.. The smell chemicals in the darkroom doesn't really help.. But I'm glad the participants returned home with their $8 worth of fun..

Dominic discovered little newborn kittens yesterday!

Seriously, the SAA cats are reproducing like hamsters!  The Malay aunties feeding them do not really help in keeping their populations down. I think once we learn how to spay the cats, we should conduct some massive cat castration exercise school-wide to prevent unwanted strays.. But for now, I hope the kittens find a good home or at least grow up nice and healthy. Kittens are very vulnerable especially if the mum doesn't provide enough milk.. Our queen in TAF lost two kittens coz she wasn't producing enough.

Though I was very tired after PDP yesterday, I went for an event shoot at the Esplanade with Alfred, Alvin, Yawen and Suan Yang.. It has been a very long while since I have shot any musical concert..  This time is TP's CO performing.. The Esplanade is rather particular about publishing pictures taken online, (we nearly could not shoot despite the CO's invite coz of some media publishing rights..) so I would just post one photo..

IMG_1564 笛子has always been my favourite Chinese musical instrument! =)

The TP CO is still performing tonight from 7-9pm at the Esplanade concourse.. Do take a look if you are interested!

lens, baby!

Thursday, 11th September 2008

This will be my next lens after earning enough munnies this holiday from my 3-hour job every day (believe me sales earns you more than a 8-hour job if you know how to do it!)..

Say hello to the Lensbaby 3G! I know it looks like some alien spaceship but it does so much more than a conventional lens can do! I definitely love the selective focusing and tilt and shift..

Some examples of selective focusing from kaleidoscopy:

When Alfred showed me this photo (no, it's NOT a painting), it totally won me over..

Lensbaby can be used on portraits too!

Love the shallow dof and selective focusing! <3

Oh mianz.. Imagine what I can do to Cosplay shots!

If you are wondering why I have this sudden interest over a third-party lens over Canon's, it's because Canon's TS lens are close to $3000 while Lensbaby 3G is only about $370! It's 10x difference! Save my pockets lots of holes..

I can't wait.. I can't wait.. I can't wait..

Cosplay Matsuri 2008 @ Vivo

Friday, 5th September 2008

The last time I shot Cosplay was for Skye's Saliormoon team about 2 months ago.. It was that long that I held my 40D that when I first tried to shoot at this event, I sorta couldn't remember how to adjust the settings for the colours and the custom WB!!! LOL! I think my photo quality deproved.. =(

This is my most satisfied pic though the hair is overexposed.  (I hate white hair! Oh, everybody hates white hair.. ;p)

No, I edited this to overexpose her face..

Ash from Pokemon! This is like the first and the oldest version.. Ash never seems to grow old, doesn't he? And the series stretches on like.. forever..

And yea, we never seem to get sick of Pikachu too..

I love her hair! And my 70-200mm too! =D

I love the clean background here.. It seldom in an event you'll get such clean and nice background..

Revive! I saw her and her friend on the train while I was with ostaf and gang.. I vaguely remember I know this person but I just can't remember the name.. Must be the yellow wig lahz! Tsktsktsk!

D.Grey Man 3rd uniform omake version! I really hate white hair!

And lastly, the bonus pic....

IMG_1496 The supposed feminine construction worker waving her bawu and peng fan.. LOL! Nah.. Ahzu wasn't Cosplaying as a construction worker.. She was just Cosplaying as a zha bor ahzu in her $8 dress.. lol! *ahbu gets whacked!*

Oh, Alfred went for this event too! He caught some nice pics on film posted somewhere on zetaboard and Sgcafe.. =)

a book recommendation

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Genre: Romance/Supernatural

It is so easy to fall in love with a fictional character.

Be memorised by Edward Cullen, the red-hair, fair-skin, golden-eye perfect looking seventeen-year-old with supernatural abilities. He is not what he seems...

When half-albino Isabella ("Bella") Swan moved to Forks, she was afraid that she might not be able to adapt to her new life. But she did not realise that she is actually more attractive than she once thought she wasn't. Soon, she falls in love with the hottest guy in school and gets sucked into a bizarre series of events as her charming boyfriend is not just a mere human...

It's the holidays, so I could afford to be crazily reading books! I've always like human-vampire romance. The thought about growing old while your partner doesn't.. The selfish thought of "the change" so that they would spend eternity together but as blood-thirsty monsters.. The dilemmas involved are always so interesting! It's like reading Princess Diaries all over again only that it's more thrilling with my favourite fictional, mythical creature involved! Girls would love it for the sweet things that Edward did to make your/Bella's (it's written in Bella's POV-first person) flutter! Btw, this is a 4-book series and thanks to some of my bro's friends who fuel my current obsession.. haha!

And btw.. This book is gonna be made into a movie soon! 21st Decemeber!!!! whee~~ I am so gonna watch it! I do hope the director does not distort the story too much..

Luckily, Edward's actor has reasonably good looks.. After all that glamorisation over his looks in the book, I couldn't bear to watch the movie if.. well... you know.. haha..

and so the lion fell in love with the lamb..
