it's that time of the year!
Monday, 23rd June 2008
Suddenly, I feel as if I am bombarded by photoshoots.. Specifically Cosplay photoshoots.. I guess it's that time where Coscon, Cosfest and other events all come at once and cosplayers would like to have photoshoots too before/after the event..
Just last week, I had THREE photoshoots.. Two were for Chibi as she was just in Singapore for a week and was rushing to have many shoots as possible.. The last one was for ahzu's D-Gray Man's causal omake shoot.. Just a little sneak preview of the pictures.. Ahzu and I have not finish the editing..
ahzu as Tamaki and Chibi as Haruhi..
And Chibi's little cousin as a uber cute Hani!
Final Fantasy III
It was so hot that day I got sun tanned! I must really admire the cosplayers for their tolerance of the weather..
One of the few male cosplayers in the scene- Leo as Arc
Chibi as Luneth
Ariki as Refia
Next is ahzu's uber fun DGM shoot.. Never had anything like it.. lol
Revive as Allen, Jingzhi as Le nalee, Ahzu as Kanda, Valda as Lavi
I love ahzu's kanda.. She looks so grumpy! Like kanda lahz! haha
looks familiar? And now everyone's doing it.. -.-"
I especially like the positioning of the characters and their poses =)
Lenalee is shhooooo cute! <3
I have a few more shoots plus events which I wouldn't miss! Roars! Busy busy busy! Especially busy adapting to the post-holiday trauma aka SCHOOL JUST REOPENED TODAY.. haiz~
darker than black II
Friday, 13th June 2008
Whoa.. It was when I typed the date that I realise that it's Friday the 13th!
But I'm not gonna blog about how much bad luck I had today.. I'm just gonna blog about the DtB shoot I had last Sunday at Singapore National Museum.. (The IDR guards there were nice this time.. They allowed us to shoot.. hehe) Here's presenting ahzu as Hei, Paradox as Yin from Darker than Black..
When I asked Feli to go to the thread to see this opening pic she was like, "Fucking ahbu, cheat me.. Can see nothing one.. Two B***lah (censored) also can cosplay.. Walau.." yea.. TRULY darker than black eh? ahzu she's saying that you are B***lah! LMAO!
ahzu was like gonna ask me why am I sending her a DtB scan when I was sending this over via MSN.. haha..
Both ahbu and ahzu love this shot though ahfred (Alfred) says the pole is distracting..
Paradox is really good as Yin.. She can pretend to be blind very well.. haha
After this we had dinner and proceed on with the night shoot.. Even with Alfred's tripod, it's hard to shoot at the museum at night.. I pumped up my ISO to the max and use f2.8 all the way.. It was even tougher than shooting in school for the first DtB shoot.. But well, here are some of the pictures..
I certainly love the lightings and the buildings behind.. When ahzu asked me to climb up, I was quite reluctant.. But when I first climbed to the third floor, the first word that came outta my mouth was "WOW.."
I love this fountain!! Totally fits in with Yin.. And the sparkle of the water... <3
I wet my butt taking this shot.. I do appreciate live view on 40D very much when I take such low angles.. I would just on live view, aim, switch it off, auto focus and shoot..
And now.. The picture all of you have been waiting for..
PUFFER HEI!!!!! muahhahahaha..
I was testing my camera settings when she made that stupid face at me.. hehe.. blackmail material!
Overall, I wasn't as satisfied with the photos this time than the first DtB shoot.. But I did enjoy the shoot as it was full of nonsensical fun as always.. =)
And oh oh.. Ahzu's on youtube! She was like ._. when I told her..
2 photos I took of ahzu as Tifa at 1:44-1:50 together with some good cosplays and coughcoughscosfuckscoughcoughs..
Bye Acer, Hello NEC
Wednesday, 4th June 2008
My old Acer which has served me for 4 years broke down on Sunday.. So I carried it to ACER service centre for some technical advice..
The guy at the counter accessed the situation before giving me or anyone a queue number.. I found it quite effective since I would not want to wait for so long and find that my computer is beyond repair or needs only a simple repair..
Counter:"hmmx.. I think it's the main board problem."
Me:"I had this problem the last time too and I came here and the problem was only a simple short circuit. You sure it's not short-circuited this time?"
Counter:"No the main board's spoilt. It switches on instantly when the power is plugged in. Is this laptop still under warranty."
Me:"erm no, it is 4-year-old."
Counter:"Then I suggest you to buy a new laptop since the repair would not be worth it."
Henceforth, I bid goodbye to my faithful old heavy and bulky ACER and is blogging using my new NEC laptop.. 4 years is rather long for a laptop.. According to swiftwing, 4 years in PC land is quite long already nonetheless laptops.. My laptop even has the almost extinct 44-pin IDE!
I have to apologise to my Cosplayer friends, whom photos I still owe from Streetfest.. The data from my old laptop is saved but I have yet to obtain the IDE cable to extract the data.. Seems like a trip to Sim Lim Square is inevitable..
BUT first, let me finish my term tests.. ONE MORE PAPER TMR!!!!!!
The Chronicles of narina: Prince Caspian
Sunday, 1st June 2008
In short, it could have been shorter..
I am a great fan of the series.. The distortion and addition of sub-plots totally spoils the novel in my opinion.. True that there is more character development as compared to the book but well.. I still prefer the book..
The concept of Susan x Prince Caspian was not appealing to me at all but corny.. Like wth?! Prince Caspian wasn't supposed to be so old in the first place!
Peter was grappling with the transition from teenager to adulthood.. But that doesn't mean he has to be so arrogant and rash.. I was quite surprised at the distortion of Peter's character especially at the train fight scene.. It was later that I realised that it's essential as he made a wrong decision to attack the castle (which was another additional sub-plot)..
When Lucky saw Aslan in the forest, IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE A DREAM! roars! They were supposed to follow an "invisible" Aslan from there on since only Lucy could see him then.. I thought it would be better as in the book since it goes around the theme of believe, trust and faith..
But I have to applaud one of the additions.. The one of the White Witch and Dark Magic.. In the book, it was only a discussion of an alternative because they were losing hope as the children were not appearing (yes, that is the part where the children joined the Narians in the book).. The White Witch didn't actually appear encased in that ice.. I thought it was also appropriate that Edmund was the one who broke the ice coz he was the Judas in the first movie..
Plot apart, I actually do love the CG effects.. ALSAN! THE LION! OMG! Every strand of his mare seems to move with him lahz! And Reepicheep! So cute lahz! I love the mouse! The scene where the guard-cat was tied up is so classic! "You Telmarines lack imagination!" "And yes, I'm only a mouse" But Reepicheep has the bravery and courage of a lion..
The marching of the tress is so LOTR-ish.. Well what to expect from C.S.Lewis when he was friends with Tolkien.. The landscape is also very Middle Earth.. And I certainly love the character design and costumes..
I would advise one to watch the movie without any background of the book coz if you have, you'll be greatly disappointed.. But well, if you ever want to read the book after the movie, you could always look for me.. =)
