ahbu's Streetfest 08 report
Saturday, 31st May 2008
Phew, finally back from Pulau Nanyang and taking a break from ACM to blog about Streetfest..
I didn't take many photos coz the lighting totally sucks.. Suntec is really not a very good place for such large scale events as it was every disorganised and too crowded.. I mainly took photos of my friends, namely ahzu and feli.. So here goes..
ahzu's an awesome samurai! <3
Can you believe that she made that fan herself?
And now to our wonderful feli (who was late and lost her voice) cosplaying as Haruhi rock version..
ahhh, I just love her pose and my wonderful angle (LOL! BHB) in this photo..
She lost her voice so she can't sing "God Knows" lol..
Feli's Haruhi rocks lahz!
The following pics would be xrystal, sakana and her friends as characters from Vocaloid..
Len
Rin
Miku
I love this photo of Len..
Another blood from Demonbane
Lenneth, whom I haven't seen for a long time..

ahbu loves yu ning!
Tuesday, 27th May 2008
Words cannot describe how much I love you mianz.. I needa exclaim out loud that I LOVE YU NING!!!!Alfred, please don't be jealous..
Yu ning gave me precise bus instructions to ntu plus the LAN CABLE.. OMG!! Like everyone thought that there would be wireless in this one hell of a jungle so they brought their laptops with no cable.. You have no idea how the TP students are grateful to you..
I'm blogging from that jungle by the way.. I'm currently at NTU Hall 14 with my window facing this greenery.. When I first arrived, I smsed yu ning saying that "wow, I feel so close to nature already.."
PLUSPLUSPLUS.. My helpline during the amazing race-like game today.. From that blur small resolution video, we totally couldn't recognise which location is the next clue but once I called her, she gave the correct location.. And my group happened to win first place coz of her help.. SG 17 is forever grateful to you.. muacks~
Just wanna tell you.. I love you!:D

I will be staying at NTU for the whole of next week from 26th-30th May.. So don't be surprised if you see me there.. AND YU NING! YOU MUST HELP ME WHENEVER YOU CAN!!! Especially during the so-called amazing race throughout NTU.. hehex..
I would also be missing out on one week's of lessons after which would be the term tests.. I think I can just fail all of the tests since I would not have time to study while I'm at NTU.. To my dearest classmates, please update me on lectures and tutorial matters!!!! Thanks a lot..
I'm also glad that Alfred is going.. If not, I guess it would be difficult to survive a week in that quite a god-forsaken place.. xD I do certainly hope this would be fun.. After this, I would feel much more liberated..
TOMORROW.. is STREETFEST! wheee~ Ahzu is going! wheee~~ Sherman is going too! He just smsed me to ask about the details.. This is one of the rare chances that I would get to see him.. And don't worry, ahbu will report back with photos from Streetfest!
Lastly, two art pieces from my last week's CDS.. Both of which got a B..
The little things.. 3 little objects in my room
This is the TP campus if you don't recognise.. (The one I was complaining about drawing in the last entry).
Now I'm having a wonderful time drawing the DES campus in ink on tracing paper.. zzz
old changi hospital
Monday, 19th May 2008
I had a night trip to OCH with my cousins, their friends, siblings and Alfred yesterday.. It was just a random after-family-dinner-activity.. But the thought of venturing into OCH scares me so I thought I would just grab Alfred along.. Besides, it was my (besides the 2 drunkards) fault that he didn't get to go the last time when we were at VC chalet..
It great that my cousins' boyfriends, or rather boy-friends, know the way around.. It was so dark (I'm glad we brought torchlight! I bet without them, you can't even see your fingers..) and every single corner looks the same.. I bet we would be lost and trapped inside that eerie place if not for them.. Thanks very muchly..
It was really really scary.. The look of the abandoned depilated house already scared the hell outta me so I was trembling and holding on tightly to you-know-who.. There were graffiti and debris everywhere.. One of the our "guides" said that we could actually feel "some presence" in the once surgery room but I am glad we did not..
Come to think of it, after Alfred said that it wasn't scary at all after the whole little adventure that I realised that I had been so much of a chicken.. It was just my own imagination that I was afraid of.. Not that there is any "presence" inside the hospital.. It is nothing more than a depilated old building.. It was just our minds playing little tricks on us..
Old ghost tales, a full moon, dark corridors, an abandoned building and.. your own wacky imagination sure cook up a scary broth!

My sis says the name "Alfred" reminds her of a bear.. Specifically, the bear from Goong..
Alfred bear is so huggable! <3 and so is the real one..

Some long-overdue photos from my last studio shot with ahzu as Akira..
This was the first time I shot with studio lightings in manual mode.. The lights were from VC's.. or rather ours, since the group of us paid for it.. I was so afraid that wouldn't be able to do it well.. But since ahzu likes the photos, oh well.. Perhaps I did a good job!
The classic "Saving Aoi" pose! LOLOL.. damn smexy! xD
The thing about studio is that you can actually control the lighting so it does not look constant in every photo.. This is unlike outdoor location shoots where you do not have much control over the lighting.. Then again, you lack the luxury of a beautiful backdrop/background..
Overexposed..
and underexposed.. (but I do love the shadows in this one..)
Another classic pose lol!
Actually I like this too..
She was using my lens as a mirror to adjust her hair when I just snapped a pic of it.. SO CUTE!
Just another spastic shot.. LOL..
And no, this is NOT VAMPIRE KNIGHT! I do love Zero with his sliver white hair, thank you.. But speaking of blue hair and red eyes.. I think ahzu will make a very shuai shuai ge! xD
Photography with a pencil & eraser
Tuesday, 13th May 2008
Free hand drawing made me realise that the camera is such a wonderful invention. It only takes less than a second to record down an image while with a pencil and eraser, it takes ages.
Today, we were supposed to draw the TP campus. At the end of 3 hours, I could not even draw the outline, lest even shade!
So, Mr Chan told us to take a picture to go home and draw. I fished out the 400D and the familiar shutter sound clicked. An image of what I tried to draw in the past 3 hours instantly appeared on the 2.5 inch screen! Wow.. I never love my beloved camera more than how I loved it at that moment..
Drawing really tests my patience. But I took this CDS initially was because I wanted to view things in more perceptive.. Sorta helps in my photography too.
I realised today that the eye is the widest wide angle lens ever! It was initially very hard to FRAME what I saw onto the drawing block. Not until I framed it with my view finder that I managed to draw my limits.
But I never knew it could be so tiring as we needa produce an art piece per week. It's too time consuming considering that this week is quiz week.. Haiz~ Now, I sorta regret my decision.
This is the work piece that I had done last week.. And many thanks to zx for helping me with part of my shading.. It is very very tiring and time consuming! >-<
死神の秘密
Saturday, 10th May 2008
The Singapore translation of this movie is actually 死神的秘密/ Accuracy of Death.
When I first saw the trailer, the question that I asked myself was: On what conditions would the Shinigami spare one's supposed death?
And the coin tossing in the trailer totally says that I MUST WATCH IT WITH ALFRED!
I didn't know Takeshi could speak Japanese but he could.. Many girls would go gaga over him (especially him in his most attractive hairstyle in his last mission) but ahbu went crazy over the big black ahbu! <3 SO CUTE LAHZ! It's Chiba-san's (Takeshi) boss who spoke without making a sound.. lol
I like the Chiba-san's ignorance about the living world, his seemingly emotionless face, his inability to lie and his fondness for "Musiku"- "Music is humanity's greatest invention"..
The movie is divided into 3 stories with Chiba embarking on his missions through doors in a bleak grey world.. He views humanity subjectively but never fails to enlighten his subjects..
The last mission was the most interesting one.. He was sent on that mission to review his earlier decision.. Notice the subtleties and spot the irony.. He reaps what he sowed..
"I would like to know what you think about death" is his common question to all his subjects.. To him, death is nothing special as he sees it everyday.. Since he has not experienced life, death is nothing but another life to him..
As long as life has served its purpose, it doesn't matter if death awaits..
But life is ordinary yet important.. Just as how the sun rises everyday- ordinary but important to all life forms..
Just as how seeing you everyday is ordinary, yet very important.. to me..
little heartbeats
Wednesday, 7th May 2008
During Animal Care practical today, some of our classmates brought their dogs so we could learn proper animal restraint and some basic grooming.. We learned to use a stereoscope to listen to the dogs' heartbeats too..
The stereoscope is like a vacuum; once you put it on you cannot hear anything except your own heartbeat.. Then you put the other end to the little creature's furry chest..
"Lub dub, lub dub"..
Another similar heartbeat beating in tandem with yours..
They are no lesser beings than humans.. So why subject them to such absurd cruelty!!!!
zq just showed me this article.. But before that I already read it from my class blog..
Does this look like art to you? Protests Against Starving Dog Art Exhibition
This is not art AT ALL!
恋空
Thursday, 1st May 2008
zx, no matter how much you hate the movie, please read the manga! The story is much more in-dept and different; with much more twists and turns.. Even with Hiro's best friend being involved in their relationship..
It's a pity is that I still couldn't get the FIRST BOOK! I rather like the art and the colouring on the cover of this series..
Hiro is not as shuai as he is in the movie though! >-<
I got the third book yesterday from the Kino at Bugis and there was no sign of the first nor the second one.. I even went to the Kino at Taka to look but DON'T HAVE!!!!!!
In the third book, you really start to hate Hiro no matter how sweet and gentle he was, he transformed into a bastard at the end of book 3.. It was so foolish of Mika to cling onto the past Hiro.. No matter what he did, she was convinced that that is a facade.. Well, with a guy like Hiro, I would be persistent too..
"真是不可思议,只是偶然认识了彼此,却在不知不觉中变成无可取代的重要存在。" I love you, kai dar dar <3!
