For once, i like DES's holidays.. At least it starts on the 2nd.. It's so dumb to go back to school on one day, have a holiday on the next day and go back to school again on the next day.. What's best is that we are getting back our HPI papers tmr.. Hallelujah! I just hope it doesn't spoil our New Year mood.. zzz
oh ya it's hw's bdae today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HW!!! It's his birthday + new year and he might have guard duty.. Poor thing.. haiz~
Had a class gathering yesterday but i shalln't blog about it.. Read yuning's blog for what happened.. But be warned, the obscene pics might spoil your eyes..
btw, anyone knows how to extract songs from youtube?! or izzit even possible.. I'm currently obsessed with this song from 12 Kingdoms..
It's the ED but the slow, lullaby-like version.. I know you might say that it sounds like some Bhuddhist chants.. I also said something like "This song is so cheena" when Wei Han played it on his handphone for the first time.. haha.. but ever since i started watching the anime, i fell in love with the oriental tunes!!! What's best is that the song in this youtube video is sung by a fan! I actually have the same song sung by the actual singer but it's not as enchanting as this.. 12 Kingdoms is really such a good anime.. Watch it! and Taiki is so much love! no ahzu, Taiki ish no gay!
And here's wishing everybody a HAPPY NEW YEAR! I shall write my new year resolutions together with my birthday wishes coz i can't think of anything yet and shall see what the others will write.. =)
I'm here to make another movie review! Watched this movie with ostaf and gang last Saturday.. The wonderful plot kept me awake despite being ultra tired after Friday's night cycling at East Coast Park..
It was mentioned twice that there could only be ONE leader in the camp but obviously there were two.. The phrase "一山不可藏二虎" couldn't be more apt.. Andy Lau was the second tiger and that's probably why his character's name is "二虎"..
Pang Qing Yun, the first brother, treasured their brotherhood but he treasured fame more and was killed by it.. At first, i thought Pang was a despicable man since he forged death to escape death while the rest of his army died.. But he turned out to be a rather good leader.. I guess cowardliness is just an ugly aspect of human nature in near-death situations..
Er Hu, the second brother, though he doubted his big brother at times, deeply trusted his brother and their brotherhood.. He trusted him but was in turn killed by this trust.. It was agonizing to see that he still believe the tale that Pang made up to lure him to his death bed even at his last breathe.. and i actually cried.. maybe because a tiger (二虎) died.. LOL..
Jiang Wu Yang, the third brother... erm, actually i have nothing much to say about his character.. he's seemly.. erm.. foolish.. He trusted in his big brother's decisions the most and when he realised that his big brother could have betrayed this trust, it was too late.. He killed both his 大嫂 and big bro in a moment of foolishness.. But the last scene where he tried to stab his bro, while foolishly reciting their pledge, was touching as the camera focused on his boots which was given to him by Pang.. I think Takeshi was seemly there to attract the younger audience.. LOL
大嫂 is the bane of all women.. How can she sleep with this random dirty injured man who followed her home?!?! She's just a flicker-mind piece of shit.. I'm somehow glad Jiang foolishly killed her.. lol.. Can she just make up her mind to stay with her husband or elope with this foreign man? In the end, she just "enjoyed" the company of this 2 men and indirectly caused the crumble of their brotherhood.. Decide between the gold and red curtains please! You can't have your cake and eat it too..
So in the end, all the main characters died..
The movie scenes focuses a lot on close-ups.. so much that sometimes, it feels uncomfortable.. It also tests the actors skills to fully express their emotions and.. erm.. to hide their pimples! LOL..
In terms of leadership, i think Pang was a better leader though he was blinded by fame in the end.. Er Hu was far too emotional and unable to make sacrifices to see the greater picture.. But a too emotionless leader isn't good as he would not be able to care about his followers and eventually lose their trust.. A balance of Pang and Er Hu would make a great leader.. =)
Overall, this is a great war film! A must-watch! But the English translation of the movie title doesn't do it justice.. 投名状 doesn't mean The Warlords; it's more than that! Please for those who understand Chinese watch and understand in Chinese.. That's probably why the Indian beside me fell asleep.. LOL It's a great literary piece!
I define holidays as having free time at home where i can slack and simply do nothing.. But for these 2-week holidays, i don't call it holidays..

swiftwing drove me from Tiong Bahru and i reached Expo at around 1030am.. i thought my ahzu would be dressed already but no.. and so I helped around with ahzu's yuki's and vic's costumes.. and when she got dressed, my ahzu is as shuai as usual.. please you don't look retarded can?

After the event ended, the whole group of us had dinner at Burger King.. ahzu ordered Mushroom Swiss and coke as usual.. and as usual, she couldn't finish even though we were all famished from not having lunch..

Or rather, Mr Yee Mon killed the whole class.. He gave us specific sections of each chapter to study and about 80% of the paper was indeed set on these sections.. So what happened to the other 20%?! GOOD GAME..
Finally, all the term tests are over though the last paper (AAP) was a disappointment.. but nevertheless, it's the HOLIDAYS!! i'm not as lucky as ahzu and the rest of DES who have their holidays till Feb.. My holidays are only 2 weeks filled with camp, overseas family trip and gatherings.. so technically i don't have many days of plain slacking around..
BUT BUT BUT.. i'm ssooo looking forward to the night cycling activity organised by the AJC alumni next friday! whee~~ i was still talking abut missing ENG's activity on Sunday when this email comes along and i immediately signed up for it!! yayyy!
